Default top box for sv

Hi there

Iv been looking in to top boxes and other luggage options for my K4 650s and was wondering if anyone had any experience of the one Suzuki sell on their accessories page? You lose the pillion seat but it looks like a simple and low hassle solution. Reading around it seems top boxes and the like have a tendency to leak - anyone know if this ones ok?

Also, is it worth splashing out on the GIVI rack system? like for waterproofness etc...

Thanks

Dont do it. If you want to carry lots of junk, get a car or a VFR with panniers.

Top boxes alter the handling, get caught by side winds and probably leak as well.

If you have to carry stuff, get a rucksack, or an Oxford type magnetic tank bag. Some people like Baglux, but they dont float my boat

I bought the Suzuki top box, I don't take pillions so it suited me to buy it. It certainly appears big enough and secure. I will be taking the bike to Spain and france again next May and I don't anticipate any problems with it.
Last year got a weeks clothing in a tank bag but realistically I needed more space.....

If anyone talks any more about topboxes for their SV on this site, I shall have to speak with Admin2 and get them banned (joke!).

Buy a Pan, Gold Wing or BMW tourer - not on an SV please.

I've said it once, I'll say it again: T*PBOXES ARE EVIL!

(As you will have noticed, the "T" word upsets me )

I don't have any experience of hard luggage on the SV, but I have other bikes I have owned and I think hard luggage is unbeatably handy if that's what you need to do with your bike, it is far superior to soft luggage for regular use.
Aesthetics? Hmmmm, stuff it, if it makes your bike useful to you, do it.

Give that man a beer. Which of course is one of the useful things you can transport in your top box. Seriously if you need to carry stuff around it's v useful. My Givi top box and panniers have seen some pretty dire weather and never leaked. Sure they do affect the handling a bit, especially when it's windy (the top box much more than the panniers) but if your bike is a practical tool rather than a recreational experience you probably won't mind that much.
