Hi, i've been reading the forums for a bit now and have thought about registering for ages but never got round to it. Now in my time of despair I think back to all the good helpful stuff I've read here in the past and can think of nowhere better to ask advice...
I bought a K3 S in copper last november and have been enjoying it eversince... the only mod I made was to fit a Fabbri dark tint screen which all went smoothly and looked ace. Back in June I was on my way home from a rideout to Matlock Bath when some kids THREW a skatedboard out in front of me! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I've recently bought a new fabbri screen and went to fit it today -it all went exactly as it had done before except that the top two screws (which screw directly into the plastic kinda holding the fairing together) now don't have threaded holes to go into! ![]() ![]() My one thought so far (apart from oh crap oh crap oh crap ![]() Cheers, Dan. |

You could tap a larger thread into it... or fill the hole with JB Weld and then see if that'll take a new thread. I think it'll be too small for a helicoil though.
Can you fit a nut on the other side?

thanks for the welcome!
Northwind, I've had a look at JB weld's website and the claims they make are pretty impressive so I think i'll try and get some and test it out as well. There's no room for a bolt that would be too easy! If I get chance tomorrow i'll take a picture to show how it all fits... |

If its like the K1-2 etc, then they crew into a threaded clip thingy. I have used loads on fitting car hifi, and never ever know what thier real name is.
They look like a folded piece of metal with the tip of one of the folds folded up at the tip slightly. They then clip/slide over the fairing lug, and the screw self taps into it. All i know, is that you get them with speakers for cars, and are found all over an SV. So what you need to do ,is get down to your local car accessory place and ask for some speaker screw clips, for want of a better description. Remove the fairing pannels in question and slide another couple over the lugs. I hope this helps ![]() Up date, they are called screw clips and the only imgae i can find is this, but at least you know what im on about, ![]() |

On the pre-03 model you use a couple of "top hat"s rubber sleeves with nuts inside.
Generally use for fairings and such, you can get them at most motorbike shops or halfords carry them as well. Cheers Mark.
