Default best hard wax?

I'm needing to give the bike a proper going over this weekend cause it's filthy and needs restoring to it's former glory (it's true what they say about silver SVs, it's hard to keep them looking new!).

What wax would you guys recomend? At the moment I've been using a clear car polish which is rubbish!

Cheers.

yeah - Autoglym Super Resin Polish for the paintwork.

And "Pledge" or Mr Sheen for any brightwork (also OK for paint).

Yep, Autoglym get my cash too, though I've also heard very good reports of Mer.

Remember not to use washing up liquid to wash the bike as discussed on many previous occasions, it's got nasty stuff in it and it strips wax off.
Use some car bodywork shampoo (again I like the Autoglym shampoo, it seems to help prolong the life of the wax polish, but any type will probably do).

I tried some Autoglym Motorcycle cleaner after someone recommended it. I was sceptical why you need anything special for a bike, but have to say it is excellent for specific occasions, if it's really cruddy or has caked on flies etc. It's great for cleaning wheels too, but I use it very sparingly 'cos it feels like it's going to take everything off down to bare metal!

I've tried this too, and will be buying another, now the first one is almost empty. I still use Gunk for the engine and surrounding area on my AJS though.

That stuff cut through dead flies on your screen so easy does work

Remember not to use washing up liquid full of salt

thanks for the info.

I already use Autoglym bike cleaner and engine degreaser (brings up the engine very nicely).

I'll try their polish too.

I just picked up a big bottle of Mer, and it's brought my skip of a bike back up to looking rather fine... It also cleaned off all the colour restorer stuff that was hiding the scratches
