at pressent I don't own an SV650 but a yam/fazer 600 03(170/200 miles depends how I ride it) also a T500M(85 miles).I've notice that the tank range is short off 100 miles(SV 650),is that due to poor economy or a small fuel tank.I plan to get an SV 650 in the future.I think these bike are excellent I've ridden one its like ridding a push bike they are so light 'n' nimble.I found the seat a bit hard but no problem as that can be sorted easily. Mine comes on at between 145 and 155 with Super Unleaded or Unleaded with a Wynns dry fuel added (for the winter carb icing).
125 - 140 on standard unleaded. |

180? Cripes. My light comes on at about 90 miles and the tank is empty at 120ish. Usually on the A4.
My riding is nearly all stop-start urban so I'd expect to be at the bottom end of the range, but a factor of two seems rather excessive. I guess something is wrong. jim |

maybe because ur constaly pulling away u keep the revs high? on the motorway u can just stick it in 6th and keep the revs down for the entire jouney.

Actually I keep the revs down in town because of the can and not wanting to draw attention to myself too much. But yeah, I'm either accelerating or stopping. It's also probably down to the fact that my commute to work is only six miles (and if I take the least efficient route that's ten traffic lights, two level crossings, several dozen speed bumps and half a dozen zebra crossings). The bike has usually only just reached normal temperature by the time I arrive.
Still, it seems a little extreme. I've been meaning to get the fuelling looked at again to see if I can get a couple of gremlins out. jim |

On my K3 I usually see intermittent fuel light flashes at around 90 miles, tends to be a bit more constant at around the 100 miles mark, then I get too scared to carry on at 120 miles so I usually fill up again at that point.
Thats a typical week of commuting into London, all the riding is stop/start, traffic light GPs, etc. If I'm out for a "blast" on the bike I still tend to fill up at the above mentioned interval, just out of habit, regardless of wether the fuel light is on or not. No idea what I could get if I were to ride on the motorway, if I need to use them for any distance I take the car. |

That sounds about right. You're right to be cautious at 120. I'd got into the habit of ignoring the fuel light until the 115 mark. And the bike ran out of gas at 121 miles on the Hogarth roundabout. I had to freewheel/push it to the BP garage.
And force of habit has probably stopped me finding out what a smooth riding range is. My trip to my parents is 120 miles there and back down the M3, so I religiously fill up before leaving getting on the M3 and leaving Winchester. It would be v bad frorm to run out of petrol on the motorway, after all. |
