Default SPECS cameras in Upper Thames Street

Just heard on Radio London

Effective MONDAY(!) the police are mounting SPECS cameras along Upper Thames Street.

Apparently they will be clearly marked with plenty of warning signs etc. BUT the damn things take a piccy of your number plate and measure your average speed over a distance - no escape - comply or get nicked!

That's my journey to work knackered then

Just found this http://www.lscp.org.uk/news.asp?id=103

18 months! I'm finding a detour.

And I bet they get 'accidentally' left in place after the road works are finished

Yep guys was going to put this on here but you beat me to it.
These things can measure you speed over 7 miles so you know where there going next they are just testing them on thames street and don't forget no need for ROAD MARKINGS EITHER. But be aware that thames street will be a 20mph limit

Probably F1. Say £1000 fine for doing 10 times the speed limit, 20 cars, 60 laps each, thats a cool £1.2million

Thats going to screw my journey as well.

Haven't they just resurfaced that section of road anyway!!! Seems a waste of money if they are just going to rip it up again

Buggers up my commute as well. Also watch your speed in the tunnel heading towards Tower Bridge just coming onto Lower Thames street. I've seen police with a radar gun clocking peoples speed in the tunnel alot recently. They ususally hang about just by the permanent speed camera at the exit of the tunnel and hide behind one of the pillars at the side of the road.

I have looked at them a few times as I park in the Corporation car park there and as far as I can see they are only forward facing - one per lane in both directions. They have also fitted a flash up warning of your speed which again leads me to suspect they are forward facing so we still can still get away with it for a bit longer. If not I am going to be on foot soon as I am sure I will have been done every day this week.
