They can be seen here: http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?p=201067#201067
So I thought I'd do the right thing and let the insurance company know. They said it's ok as long as they have a British Standards Kite Mark. I speak to the mechanic who just fit the cans and he says it's ******** as cans dont come with a kite mark any more. As long as they dont say 'for track use only' or some such then it shouldnt be a problem.... Renegade tell me they are road legal though.... Plus, the mechanic says they are too loud to go through an MOT. Pish. So should I come clean with the insurance company or should I just hold on until my policy is up for renewal (end of Jan) and move on to someone else? I'm currently with Equity Red Star through Motorcycle Direct. It's a **** policy and I'm only with them cos they were cheap when I had my scooter. |

if your 3rd party, don't say anything... if fully comp i'd tell em, but if rene say they are road legal then they must be the road legal ones in which case your ok
may be able to get a db killer to pass mot, otherwise its a case of borrowing a quiet slipon |

Equity Red Star are one of the worst when it comes to replacement cans. Careful, you may well find they refuse to insure you.

Surely if they're road legal then they are quiet enough, otherwise they wouldn't be legal.

ERS are **** I know.
It's just this ******** about the kite mark. Why are they insisting my cans must have one? If anyone here as an after market can, have a look for a kite mark on it and let me know! Cheers. |

Ooooh, I'm with them and I haven't told them about my lovely new can!
It doesn't have a kite mark, they were replaced by the European Standards number, if you have an ES number on it then it's road legal. They'd better still insure me, no way am I going back to the old can! |

ring them tell em there road legal, they cannot kick up a stink!
its like this, if you repalce a break lever with one that isnt bs approved, you are technically just as uninsured (with regard to the vehicle act) as with a race can! so if its BS approved can they really cant go mental about it!!! and then take the bike to another dealer for the MOT! Alex |
