Default Recommended Suspension Settings?

What would you recommend as the best suspension settings for a 15 stone, reasonably quick road rider?

Thanks,

David

Close to as hard as you can get it IMO.

The standard suspension is soggy. My rear shock is almost at max and i cant adjust my front yet.

Welcome.

Do you have a curvey SV? These have single rate springs that are simple to setup - the preload should be set so that when you're sat on the bike the suspension sags approximately 1/3 of its total travel.

However, as jimbo says, the spring rate isnt as stiff as it should be, so a fork oil/spring swap is a good idea if you feel up to it.

I think it was pre-K2 that doesnt have preload adjusters on the front (like mine)

Yes, but 10 mins with a hacksaw and some plastic drain pipe will sort that

I actually haven't bought the bike yet (it belongs to a friend of mine at the moment) but I am interested in it, it's one of the rounder looking ones in black. I don't think it had any front preload adjustment (can't remember precisely) but the suspension did seem soggy.

Is the rear shock rebuildable?

You're better off changing it rather than rebuilding it. You can pick up good quality SRAD shocks from lots of places.

Dumb question, but by SRAD you mean a GSXR shock, right?

Does that fit in directly?

Cheers,

David

Yep. Look it up on the main site (i think) or do a search of the forum.

As far as i know its a direct fit. You may have to cut a notch (or summat) out of some plastic somewhere. I think its the battery case.
