What year ZX shock? Some of them are known to be rather stiff, which you might not want.
Of course, if you're buying off ebay you might be limited to what you can actualy get your mits on. |

The ad says for a "G" Model whatever that is, looks like a 2001 onwards,
not to worried bout the stiffnessas im 15+ stone with all the gear on! what dya reckon, looks snazier than the srad! Alex |

How much? If you can get it for less than £40 I'd get it anyway.
When I say stiff, I mean the spring rate is high. This is not the same as preload - preload is for adjust the bike to suit your weight. Spring rate is the amount of force needed to move the spring a given amount. Choice of spring rate is governed by what kind of surface you're traveling on (the smoother the surface, the higher the spring rate), NOT just weight. (I think I've got that right. hopefully someone in the know like Mr Squid will be able to confirm) |

According to figures I've found on the intarwebnet, stock SV650K3 rear shock spring rate is 430 lb/in. ZX-6R K3 shock is 540 lb/in. It may or may not suit you, but it is significantly stiffer.
As I say, if its going cheap, get it. You can always put the stock one back on if you don't like it. Also, have you done the front yet? I'd recomend you do that first. |

woopee! I won it all for 30 quid, So ill try it, or possibly get the spring swoped over, The front is to be done, but the bike won't be bbcak on the road till all is done... Front susp rear susp braided lines brake pads sub frame tyres etc....... So the bike will be completly different, i want it to feel like a pert sports bik, feels like a wallowing mass at the moment, with nothing sharp about it any where, cheers for the help though, and if i get time when it arrives ill do a fitting guide! If it were me, I think I'd try for a ZK10R shock- a bit softer from what I'm told. But the thing is, at these prices you can buy it, if it doesn't work flog it to someone else and you'll be out maybe a fiver. If you can whip up a really good description, you'll probably make a profit

I think you may be better off with a Gixxer shock. I am told the Ninja shock spring is too stiff for the SV (arguably). The years of shock that fit are....
