Was thinking of getting one of these of ebay for my k4 naked and was wondering what people thought of them. Are they substantial enough, do they need anything extra which doesn't come with them, and how much extra crap am i likely to get on myself

I put one of the older arseend tidys on and there was alot of crap that sprayed up from the road. Went as far as the rear handrail. But the new ones i dont know how good they are as I havent fitted mine yet. But all in all crap wipes off and it looks so much better its unreal.. Trust me its worth it.

If you mean the Hamicad one, then they are well made and look good...
The original version was found to have a fault which made it dangerous! The welds would break and half of it would fall off & dangle on the rear wheel... Could be very nasty! They could not be faulted however, on their service as they contacted everyone who had bought one, told them of the problem and informed them that a new one was being worked on. They also informed them that they should discontinue use immediately. A new improved version was supplied, F.O.C. to all customers as well. This may sound a little over the top but of the 2 people I see a lot of who had one of the originals fitted, both failed after 10,000-ish miles (IIRC). chutz was one of the first to encounter the problem and was very lucky that it didn't fall off 5 minutes before it did, as he was going a lot faster, round twisty bits & may well have been caused to crash by this. The fact that the manufacturer has instructed you to discontinue using the product means that if you don't do so & you are caused to fall off because of it breaking, they would not be liable and your insurance company may refuse to pay a penny. If anyone still has one of the originals fitted, do yourself a favour & remove it... NOW! |

Yes, the Hamicad is very nice indeed.
But when riding in very wet weather you will get spray as far as the passenger seat ![]() |
