Default Cry cry cry :-( Dropped the blue cow

Hi all,

I dropped her. Only on the patio onto a lavender bush (which took the brunt), I kept hold of her for as long as I could. But she only fell about 12" into the mud.
I can't see any obvious damage, but the gear lever seems to be stiff when going up & down gears, but is that just me being para

everything else seems ok, no scratches or marks, just tiny scuff marks on the bar ends.

What should i be looking for ?

a very sad Mass

Hey,

I am not exactly sure what you should be looking for, but I am posting to give you some moral support. Other people, non-riders, find it hard to believe that dropping a bike is VERY common. I did it.... twice. I was very ashamed to tell anyone. Whether you are walking it in the garage, forget the kick-stand, wind blows it over, etc. I've heard them all.

The things that damaged when I dropped mine... I didn't the can, scratched bar ends and mirrors. And scratched and broke a signal light. Also, bent my shift lever. Which managed to bend back and it's been good.

Don't worry about it too much. It happens. It give it character! Now go ride the Blue Cow!

You are now a member of the "Real Bikers Club" - not that that's any consolation.

F_S is right to ask about the gear-change - at will be stiff without the engine running.

Give her a wash and polish and no-one will be any the wiser

Ye know what mate, I Dunno It seems to be stiffer when riding, but it still goes up n down gear as normal, really hard to describe.
I know when I stopped the bike and put the side stand down, the engine didn't cut out, which made we worse
But when I finally got home to put her away, it was working fine? which I found really odd??
I'll have a good look tomorrow, see if I can see anything obvious, but without knowing what to look for....
Spoke to Nagai briefly before, reckons I may have knocked the switch on the top of the side stand, and somehow it's connected itself again?

But apart from that, she felt ok all the way to Abber - and back.

Still gutted though!

As Jabba said , part of the proper bikers club now then.

Don't worry... Mine has been over 3 times

Over balanced on it while moving it out of the garage

The missus dropped it in Morrisons Car Park

You may just have got a bit of mud in a few places where mud should normally be! Taking her out for a spin should have blown a fair bit of the crap away.

As Jabba says, given a bit of TLC with a sponge and polishing cloth and you may find her back to normal.

As Jabba and K are saying, wash it. By getting up and close with your Cow you may notice things. That's the best time to inspect it for any issues. That is why it is also good to wash your bike regularily as you may notice a loose screw here and there, etc. Good luck!
