I need to replace the rear tyre as it has become worn. It is a K4 and still has the stock tyres. Is there any gain to changing out the front tyre at the same time even though it is not worn.

I wasn't asking about which tyre to get. I was wondering if there was any benefit in having a matched front and rear tyre.

It is advised that you do NOT mix tyres from different manufacturers. It is possible to mix tyres from the same manufacturer. ie: A popular mix is Bridgestone BT010 front, BT 020 rear. If you are going to do this put the stickier tyre on the front.

It is advised not to mix from different manufacturers, but in reality there's no problem with it if you're careful.
Pick a similar enough type of tyre and you'll fine be. |

i've had mismatched tyres for ages and had no probs whatsoever, had a set of diablo's but rear got puncture and had to be replaced, all they had was an 020...
runs fine.... but looking forward to getting some z6's in the summer |

Have to admit, not had a chance to really test it yet, but I can't really tell the difference. |
