Default normal backfire

This morning on the way to work my bike was backfiring most of the way as i slowed down & eased of the noise maker.

Is this probably because i did not warm the enging up enough at home.

I only left it on choke for about 2-3mins before i set off.

are you talking about a full on backfire - or just a popping as you come off the throttle? Mine used to do the latter a lot (especially in colder weather) i used to love it

Mine does it in cold weather, generally when it's damp as well and it starts to get carb icing...

Default Not really a backfire to similar.

This months RiDE magazine has an article where someone has added a switch to the handlebars that when activated tranfers the spark from the cylinders to additional plugs fitted into the end of the tailpipes, thus igniting the unburnt gasses in a huge flameout.

They imply that this is a new idea, but I am sure that I had heard a similar story (perhaps Urban Myth) years ago when someone had fitted a fuel pipe to the exhaust to form an afterburner. Anyone elso heard this?

I read that article, new or old, what a winner!
Insurance implications?!

I'd be worried about adding a fuel pipe though!
