In an ironic twist of fate, several psychological studies have been carried out on the psychology of heterosexism, hate of homosexuals, homophobia and anti-homosexual sentiment. For example, studies have found that:

"lower degrees of anti-homosexual bias in people who know openly homosexual people on a personal basis."[2] and that
homophobic heterosexual men showed signs of sexual arousal from being shown images of homosexual sex, when a control group of non-homophobic heterosexual men did not. [3]
