Default Stickers?

Hey,

Since many of the members have crazy modded their bikes... *cough* ... Rictus... Sexysi... *cough* ... I thought someone may have an answer for me.

I want to get some of my own SV stickers made. Here is a picture of the type of sticker I want to get made or the K3+ 'SV650S' llogo.

How would I go about doing this? Could I print off a piece of paper with that logo on it and take it somewhere...? Help thanks. I am going to the city in a week so I thought I could get it done there someplace...

Mitch

Hey,

Would I just bring a piece of paper with what I want printed on it? And what about colours? If I wanted a black and a silver sticker, would I need both colours on the paper...

It depends what type of sticker you are after. You could have them cut out of PVC (i think it was pvc, some sort of platic anyway).

Waterslide decals, but that would need to be laquered over.

Speak to Chewy hes had some printed, so should know more...Maybe even Mr Admin John as he got the sv650.org brushed stickers made...

And make sure they are printed on proper vinyl otherwise you will end up with blank stickers when you wash it.

I bet there is a technical name for them, but im not a printer :P

Go to any decent graphics place and they should be able to scan your drawing. If not they could draw it up using the vinyl software package (its similar to an AutoCad type setup).
The vinyl they would use is usually graded as a 5 -7 year vinyl or 7 -10 year vinyl, something like that and will not fade or wash off.

Its the same as is used on commercial vans for company logos addresses etc. the only difference being is that you are after something smaller.

Its an excellent way of adding your own individual touch to the standard bike and the options are only limited to your own imagination.

The incorporation of more than 1 off colour, I'm not sure about as I have only dealt with single colours.
We got the equipment in work to cut vinyl stencil for spraying through which is why I know a little about what can be done.

HTH and Good luck, it will look good.

the easiest way to do it is prepare it for print

if your gonna send it to a printers to print it on vynil (will prob work out cheaper) you need to save the design

take it into photoshop.
needs to be in CMYK colours
300 dpi (resolution)
and saved on a CD-rom as a TIFF file
(as you will lose alot of detail through the printing/ scanning process)

if you want - e-mail me the image and i can prepare it to you, and send you the final output file.

the cheapest cheapest way to do this - is find some students - give them the file and get them to print it off at college/uni on their vynil cutters.
i can get it done for you but if you want me to do it - it will probably take a few weeks (as i need to blag my way into uni and get on the machine )

i forgot to mention. the waterslide method (as mentioned above) is a good way of doing it - but pretty easy to **** up. . . you can buy waterslide printer paper for about a pound a sheet (A4) that you can feed through your printer and then apply to the bike,
it will need to be laqured over tho - and if you do this at home - you cannot achieve a white colour (as white is transparent)
