Default Tool Kit Location

I recently bought a 2003 SV650 and while tinkering with the rear seat I realized that there wasnt a tool kit under the restraining harness in the compartment. The dealership gave me a 2002 manual since they are nearly the same bikes. It says the kit is in the back seat compartment. Upon calling the dealership they told me the kit is up under my frame near the riders left leg. I've searched high and low and am convinced there is no tool kit on the bike. Could someone please tell me where it is supposed to be? And if the dealership owes me a tool kit. Thanks. [/u]

Um, the 02 and 03 are totally different save the engine, and even it's pretty different... Sound like they might have lost the toolkit and manual (seems to happen a lot) and just given you whatever they had lying around)

Sound a load of nonsense. On a K3 it should be under the rear seat held in with a rubber whatsit. On a K4 its on the 'outside'. Also a K2 manual will most likely be for a curvey, unless yours is a late reg K2.

The toolkit on my K4 is hidden is a 'box' which forms the bottom part of the undertray, down near the rear suspension, and is accessed by pulling out a small 'pin' on the nearside of the bike. A flap approx 1.5" by 4" should then come off in your hand, and the tool kit should be in there.

I thought the main difference between the K3 and earlier bikes is that the K3 has fuel injection, and the others are carbs - so it's a completely different engine

If it took a key to open the little black box lid. I might actually keep the tool kit there. However its to easy for somebody to steel the tools, the way it is now. I moved my tool pouch under the pillion for piece of mind.

Yeah, that's one of my next planned mods. I don't like the idea of people being able to sabotage my bike using my own tools

I reckon I'll probably use the "outside" space freed up to store a puncture kit and/or some lock de-icer (often wondered where to keep that secure(ish), yet outside locked areas).

I guess an old inner tube cut in strips would also work too, correct?
