Default New Scorpion Can without cutting the original pipe...

Hey people,

I've decided I need a new exhaust on my K5 SV650S.

I think i've decided on the Scorpion (unless some one can convince me otherwise) I don't want to go for more power as the bike is 33bhp restricted anyway. I just want a beefier sound.

Can I change the can without cutting the original pipe work?

I noticed the some bolt down the bottom where the two exhuast outlets combine in to the one exhaust, could I get a piece of pipe for between here up to the new exhaust?

Cheers, I'm sure someone else has done it.

you can buy a 2nd set of pipework and cut that instead but you'll have to cut something.... unless you go for full system or 3/4 system

you've got to cut it
quite simple - use an angle grinder for the quickest result
or a hacksaw if you're worried
the scorpion can comes with a sleeve so you can put the original back if you wanted to at a later date

whatever you do - take the baffle out to get the best sound

I wasnt looking forward to cutting mine but i didnt spend the dosh on a full system so i had to.
I used a big hacksaw as i dont have an angle grinder and it was suprisingly easy enough.
Just make sure you cover the exposed bit with lots of cardboard in case i slipped and went thru a brake hose or something

Took a while but easy peasy

I beg to differ...
I went to a breaker and bought a rear header which had already been cut. Cost me about $20 quid... My original pipe is still in one piece...

First post!!

Don't mean to be a kill joy or anything but my bike was fitted with an aftermarket exhaust when I bought it.

I had to have a 33bhp restrictor kit fitted and the dealer told me the exhaust would have to come off as the restriction is only valid with a standard exhaust fitted. Hence insurance would be invalid and I would be effectivley riding a bike I don't hold a license for.

Only passing on what I was told.

Cheers ade, mine is a K5 so it's restricted through the ECU, so swapping the exhaust will be ok!

welcome to the site too!
