Today managed to do 138 miles before the light came on. Decided being about 13 miles from home id chance it and go as long as poss. Stopped at the services just from my house on 148 miles so got 10 miles into the reserve. Squeezed £11.50 worth of fuel into the tank.
How much further could i go on the reserve tank? Im guessing that it wouldnt get much further - I dont want to run dry and bugger the fuel filter up. |

First of all... the SV's mileage varies enormously depending on how and where you ride it.
The most I've had before the light is 155 miles, and the least is 83 miles! However, I usually get around 110-120 for urban roads. The tank's capacity is supposedly 17 litres, and when the light comes on, I can get about 12 litres in. So working on those averages, you've probably got a good 50 miles before she'll be gasping at fumes. But this does entirely depend on how you ride, where you ride, and what kind of mileage you're already getting. If my light comes on, it's a note to me to fill up when convenient in the next 10-20 miles.

Like Billy said, the actual mileage varies enormously, but just for information, the most I've ever managed to fit into my K4 tank is just shy of 16 litres. That was without actually running out of petrol until I literally rolled onto the forecourt.

I usually keep going until the light stays lit. Then usually manage at least another 5 miles.
When the light starts flashing i think the manual says there's still 3 litres in there which is a sizeable percentage of the total capacity. I know i can easily get 25 miles out of the reserve before i start sweating. |

I just get annoyed with continually going to the petrol station, so leave it as long as possible. |
