Default Swinging arm pivot greasing

I've been thinking about getting my swinging arm off to give the bearings a grease and just to stop it seizing.

I've had a look at the exploded diagram and as far as I can see there is a bolt with threads at both ends. One of the nuts has an unusual head which will probably require me to purchase a new tool for it. The other bolt looks conventional, just a case of a big enough socket.

Would it need someone to keep one of the nuts still while loosening the opposite one?

Once the nuts are off it looks like I've got a "spacer-bearing" & "pivot bearing" on either side. Do these come out readily or is a bearing removal tool required? Can I just stick my finger in the hole ( ) and smear lithium grease all around?

I reckon it'll be a 2 man job as the weight of the swinging arm will need supporting to get the bolt out and to line it all up for re-entry.

The whole thing can then be reassembled with serious amounts thread lock to prevent corrosion in the threads.

I'm a bit confused by Part Number: 09263-17039 which is labelled 4 in the "rear swinging-arm" exploding diagram. I can't see where it fits in.

I'll probably show my ugly mug at soho tonight as the weather looks good out. Hopefully someone who knows will be there to answer questions.

Cheers

There is a locking ring on the right hand end, that needs to come off first, then undo the securing nut on the left end, finally undo the pivot (hex on right end, it's threaded into the frame on the left)) and remove on the right. When replacing, fit the pivot first and just nip it up, not monster tight, then the securing nut, tight, then the lock ring, tight.

The bushes just slide out, no tools necessary unless the races need to be removed/replaced.

No, all the bits are light, it's easily done on your own.

No need, just a smear of grease will be fine.

They're the bearings on the upper end of the suspension links, ("dog bones"), not part of the swingarm pivot, grease them too though.

Sorry mate. I arrived around 9pm and there were loads of people there and I didn't know anyone, plus I wasn't aware of the need to cover up my licence plate so just ended up leaving to see a mate before I got ticketed.

Next time I'll try and arrive early enough so that I can introduce myself as people arrive and get to put faces to names.

Is that the one with the unusual head? What do I use to undo that?

So after the locking-ring comes off a conventional hex head is revealed which allows the pivot bolt to be unscrewed?

Cheers for the help.

A peg spanner, I'm sure the dealer will sell you one, but I have no idea what the Suzuki tool costs, I made my own.
