I was riding a few minutes ago, and wanted to take off a little hard, so I let the clutch out a little slow(er than normal). After that it seemed like I was getting a lot more intantanious torque when I hit the throttle. Wanted to do power wheelies now, where it didnt before. So is there an explanation for this??? Does a clutch need to be slipped every once in a while to get it sticky again??? What is going on, is it really gripping more and transfering torque or am I imagining it???

Sounds like you just managed to get the bike closer to the power band before you took off properly.

So why did it seem like it was grabbing a lot better on later accelerations and take-offs??? Does it grab better if it is warmer????

I can't think of a good explanation, perhaps it just seemed faster after the rush of taking off.

slipping the clutch only serves one useful purpose, it makes your wallet lighter :P
Do you mean holding the clutch in and revving up then dropping it, to do a wheelie |

maybe you were using more revs than before, more torque, more power = faster acceleration.
You can burn a clutch out by slipping it lots... you have been warned. |

I should have said this, but I never dump a clutch, and I only started letting it out at around 3000 and slipped it out to 5000. at 5000 it was all the way released. I guess all that I was thinking was that a warm clutch might be sticking better??? And as a second thought, maybe it needed adjusted?
REPEAT.... I never dump a clutch. |
