Default New to SV650 - recommended mods/tweaks?

Hopefully picking my bike up next week (pending passing my test)

2001 naked model. Completely standard and covered around 15k miles.

I would be interested in what you guys think are the 'must do' checks and improvements/mods after picking it up. (Aside from the usual service stuff)

I have ordered a fender xtender already as I have read the threads about the wet front plug problem - which I would like to avoid as its going to be my commuter bike (35miles of fast A roads every day)

Any other recommendations?

As you are commuting, I'd recommend a Scotoiler, saves on chain maintenance, then as suggested springs and oil for the front forks, as that will allow you get the best from the chassis, then an exhaust to improve the sound of it. Crash Bungs are a worthwhile addition to IMHO.

I would say depends upon your size to do the suspension at both ends

Invest in a Paddock (and decent bobbins) or ABBA stand will day diviends

then as everyone else

Thanks for the info , will have a look at/research the suggestions and go from there Not sure my insurance company would look too kindly on the 'performance' mods (exhaust and suspension)

Maybe an alternative screen to help with the wind deflection too

I would save my money for petrol and some decent riding gear for the winter.

As a learner will take some time to get used to it and by the time you would want improvements, you will probably want a different bike anyhow.

+1 on scottoiler, they are a godsend if you are covering a lot of miles.

Ignore TPS adjustment, misread OP thought it said 2005!

Decent heated grips could help in the winter months commuting!
