Default Any legal eagles out there?

Finished work tonight and got to the bike in the car park too find a couple of bad chips (not the kind you eat ) on the tank, the groundsmen have been strimming all day and the bike was covered in grass as well. Its council ran so are they responsible for the damage, I've never been told at any time that vehicles are parked at the the owners risk and there are no signs to say that as well, anybody know?

When I worked as a council groundsman, a colleague's strimmer threw a stone up and smashed a passing car's windscreen. So far as I recall, we were never claimed against. Maybe the woman concerned had a 'free windscreen replacement' aspect of her policy, with a low excess, which meant she replaced it through that and didn't bother going through the aggravation of claiming against us, etc.

Send your claim into the council (finance or Insurance section), with photos of damage, report of the incident, and an independent estimate of the cost of repairs.

Council's get loads of claims, some they fight, others they pay.

I work for Barnsley council and we get claims in all the time . Ring your local council and ask to be put through to highways section. They'll probs put you onto a secretary. Tell them you have a complaint and would like to make a claim against them for damage to vehicle. Make sure you tell them where, when and how it happened (They WILL check).
I.E. my bike was outside ..... building between .... and .... , It was struck by stones etc. from strimmers denting/ chipping petrol tank. ..... and..... from said building saw damage and will confirm dates, times etc.
They will either send someone out or ask for photos (photos work best but keep a copy, most people sent out are car drivers and think it's £15 to respray a tank ).
if you don't get any luck try getting through to head of department, normally works here
Good luck

or mention to the council your local paper might be interested!!!

if you stipulate the times they will know there were strimmers working there at that time

good luck
