Default R6 question - Help needed

I was just removing the fairing on my 06 R6 and this dropped out of the bellypan area:

It is a big nut - 36mm so I'm a little worried. I know this is an SV forum, but I was hoping someone may either know someone with an R6 or can point me in the direction of an up-to-date fiche. I have gone over the bike, but can't seem to find where it came from. It's definately not a swingarm nut or a wheel nut.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Luke

Mystery solved! Apparently when the bike's are shipped they put a sh!tty steering stem nut on, and the dealer swaps it over prior to delivery for a nice shiny one! I guess the dealer dropped it in the bike and forgot about it.

Thanks
Luke

sounds like you have solved the mystery now ... but out of curiosity, why were you removing the fairing?

Fitting a datatag kit. I'm still not sure they're really much cop though. When I bought a used rear shock of ebay and it had few datadots on it - just picked them off rather than ringing the police/datatag! I suppose it is more of deterrant, but after removing in region of 30 bolts and clips to remove 6 pieces of origami style fairing, I don't ever want to do it again!

I dunno how much of a deterrent it is, for the exact reason you stated, but if it gets nicked and even with the engine and frame numbers removed it can still be identified as your bike ... but to be fair if things have got to that stage you probably don't want it back ...

all this said, for the cost, yes, I would still do it

I had told the insurance company that I already had it, though to be honest, I bought a kit and just sent off the forms to cover my @rse. That was about 3 weeks ago. Kit has been sitting here since, so I though I may as well fit it! It was only £30 of fleabay so, probably is worth the money.
