Default Thinking of selling - should I service it before?

My SV is coming up the the 15k service which will probably cost me around £250. I'm thinking of selling her so will I get a better price if I have this service before or doesn't it make much difference? Any advice appreciated.

Thx

i would say it helps.... i know if i was looking for a bike and it was due an expesive service... it would either put me off.. or give me a very strong haggling point....

depends who you want to sell to... on here, most people will appreciate the service being done and pay a little extra... at a dealer or privately elsewhere, where they'll probably know less about the SV, I'd say it's not worth it.
Plus it depends on what price you're asking for the bike!

Pretty much what I thought. I know if I was buying, a recent dealer provided major service would be a plus. Not sure how much I'd get for a '99 SVS albeit of fairly low mileage.

Cheers

It probably makes it more saleable with the service done but you are very unlikely to get £250 more for it.Hence if you can find a buyer you will be better off selling it unserviced.Price it right and let them knock you down for the service.

£250 is a high dealer price for the service you require. The bike is no longer under warranty, so forget a main dealer - it's not worth the money.

Find a good independent mechanic who can stamp the book, and get them to do the work for half the cost. Easier still... do the oil, plugs and filter yourself and save more £'s on their expensive time!

As mentioned, if you can say the bike has had it's service, show the stamp, produce the receipts... then not only will it be more attractive to any buyers looking for similar machines, but it'll also run better as well - good for punters who test-ride.

I would say NO, if I were purchasing a used vehicle, I'd rather have the service done instead of taking someones word that it was done

Will the price reflect not having the service done?

yeah £250 is stupidly expensive for a 15K service. As long as the buyer knows what they're looking at then a service will be good otherwise they may ask for more to be knocked off the price.

As a comparison on the service price I paid around £180 for a 15K and 18K service. Half what I was quoted at an officla suzuki dealer.
