Default Advice please for a newbie

Hi guys i am two weeks away from my test and am hoping to get a new sv650s using the interest free thingy.
Can i have some advice on a few points please.
Is the suspension set up on the rear and front good enough for everyday use and how about the tires? I just have a few peeps that tell me to change this and that but i wanted ti keep the bike stock for now.
Can i have some views from owners of the bike please

I have been riding mine for just over a year now and had it as standard.

All is fine on it but yeah do take it easy to start off with until you feel confident.

Could be worth doing a beginners track day once it is run into build up your confidence.

Have fun with it

like they've all said, take it easy at first. If you are getting the finance deal, chuck some crash bungs at it before it leaves the show room. The naked is going to be most like the GS/ER/CB you've probably been riding on DAS, but much more nimble and lighter. The main differance is that lovely V-twin engine, very snatchy compared to the DAS bikes, so just be easy on the clutch and right hand till you get used to it.

oh yeah, and watch out for engine braking, compared to the DAS bikes, using the gears to slow down is like throwing large anchors out the back, the speed disappears a lot quicker then you expect it, kinda embaressing at first, but very handy.

After that, nail it and wonder why they dont give these to every newbie

I think the suspension will need doing at some point, but I wouldn't bother with it till you've established for yourself that the stock kit isn't good enough.
I haven't done mine yet, but a quick whizz around a roundabout on raf's bike has convinced me that I definitely need harder springs.

the pies aren't the issue, trust me.

just waiting for my sv to arrive on the finance thingy, I've added a rear hugger - keep the **** off the rear underside and the suzuki alarm. Looking at crash protectors as my next option I'm getting the feeling suzukis' own leave a lot to be desired - R&G get good reviews but if your dealer doesn't do them you won't be able to add them to the finance package. Finally I'm probably going to get a scottoiler cos I think a chain deserves it -then my budget is all gone so suspension, exhaust and power commander will have to wait some.

Cheers for the help
Have been riding a year and a half on a xr125l so i have a lil road experience but i will of course take it easy till i feel a lot more confident and in control.

Am looking at adding the lower fairing ,an alarm and the frame sliders but the ones that go with the lower fairing look pretty useless to me. Am not into modding the fairing to add better crash mushrooms though. I will look at the rear hugger too but it all depends on what i get part ex for my bike.

Oh well two weeks to go ....how i hate waiting
