Default Remapping after new exhaust system

I just bought a new 05 sv650. I was wanting to put a yoshimura slip on on it but you have to cut the pipe...and that sucks. So I have decided to go with the full system. I was wondering if you have to remap the ECU after the new exhaust system? If you do how hard is it and what price range will it be? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

A better answer is to not worry about cutting the exhaust, it's really not a big deal. Full system's better but IMO not at the price- you'd be very lucky not to need a remap with a full system.

I don't want to cut my stock system so I can go back to stock if I want to.

Normally it is not necessary to re-map or re-jet if you change the exhaust.
But each manufacturer is different so it is worthwhile checking if they have designed the exhaust can or system not to need re-mapping or re-jetting.
This is from Yoshimura's US site, regarding RS3 system : http://www.yoshimura-rd.com/faq.asp#4
Check the internet for the exhaust you're thinking of putting on.

On the other hand if you change the air-filter, say standard -> K&N, then you will almost certainly need to re-map or re-jet, as the amount of air per sec getting in to the intake will be different.

The only way to be sure if re-mapping or re-jetting is required (in either case - exhaust or air-filter changed) is to carry out a before and after dyno test.

Sure, same as everyone else But most slip-ons will come with a sealing plate that you can use to cover over the cut should you return to stock.
