I had one for a few thousand miles....
It was very good, but i voted other as even with the gel seat i hurt after an hour which wasnt long enough for me on that bike as i regularaly had 4 hour trips.... could have been a lot of other contributing factors an all though... |

I had one. Made my backache. If you really want one, then get one. It may work for you like it does a lot of people.

I read in a bike mag that the suzuki gel seat absorbs a lot of water and unlike the stock seat, it takes a lot longer to dry than the rest of the bike, so you sit on it after a downpour and 'squelch'.
![]() I've sat on a SV1000s with one and the key thing I noticed wasn't how soft it was, but more that it was wide at the front as well as the back (stock seat, like the 650 is wide at the back, narrowing towards the front). It did seem more comfortable. Something I've taken to doing on long rides (particularly on the motorway) is to slide back on the seat to the widest point and then put my heels on the pegs. It makes for a more upright position as well as being more comfortable on the backside. Takes a bit of getting used to when taking bends at speed like this mind (seems to be less feedback and you feel a bit disconnected from the road). |

I used to complain about my standard seat, but after a few thousand miles, it got softer. Perhaps you should sit on someone who's
a) as fat as me, b) done 10k miles or more |

I've never tried a gel seat, but last weekend did a long journey, was in the saddle about 5 1/2 hours two days running. I took on board a tip I read on here, to wear cycle shorts underneath my leathers.
WOW, what a difference, I recommend them! No sore or numb bum at all. ![]() Does that count for a vote for 'other' ? ![]() Lou |

where do you get those temporary gel pads that you put over your seat?
Would not mind to get one for my personal EuroTrip.
