Default Moped down - nurse Cazza to the rescue...

...well, fortunately I didn't need to do that much.

Was coming into work this morning, down Hampstead Road (Mornington Crescent towards Euston Road). Three lanes of traffic pootling along at about 20mph. Moped in front of the car in front of me. Everyone brakes - including the moped - which suddenly disappears from view followed by that horrible crunching sound.

I whizz round get off my bike, parking in the middle lane, near the crashed moped. It's a young woman (wearing a skirt, tights and shoes - needless to say) sprawled in the road. A car driver stopped and rang 999.

Anway, turns out she's okay - just hurt her leg, but nothing broken fortunately. So I just sat on the road, held her hand, chatted to her and made sure she was warm etc. (and stopped the people who wanted to give her something to drink!).

Just glad it wasn't worse - but it's never nice to see.

And, of course, it made me glad I was wearing all of my proper gear! (Not least because I didn't get a soggy **** from sitting on a wet road for 15 minutes!).

Good work! Seems the emergency services are busy everywhere they go at the moment!

Lets hope that the moped rider has learn of the low protection factor of nylon tights and a skirt! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLES HEADS!

Anyway, enough of my pet hates.....well done...we need more like you!

Well, obviously it did occur to me to give her the web address of Big Ape's A.W.Y.F.L. post. But thought maybe that wasn't what she needed right then.

So I wrote it down and slipped it into her pocket when she wasn't looking.

Well done our Cazza. Glad she wasn't badly hurt and hopefully learnt a lesson.

How did the accident happen?

(If it was me I'd be pointing out to her the cost of a decent skin graft and the impact that has on our insurance premiums/taxes )

Simple case of "slippery road" + "braking sharply" = "horizontal moped". No other people / vehicles were involved.

My compensation was that I got to chat to a couple of dashingly handsome policemen...

Ah, in which case, she'd also have been told how to learn how to ride the thing.

That reminds me, did I mention that our new offices are next to a Fire Station (not that I or anyone else I know has actually met a fireman that you'd allow anywhere near you)[/quote]
