Hello all! I'm a new member (although I have been reading lots on here for a little while) and I have finally plucked up the courage to join and ask my question.
Unfortunately, I have to ride on the back of our (his?) SV because I don't have a license to go at the front! I am really enjoying going out on the bike at the weekends with my other half. However, the pillion seat doesn't half make my bum ache ![]() Many thanks ![]() |

Probably the best thing to do is send your pillion seat to these people:
http://www.motorbike-seats.co.uk/ ...and ask for them to insert a gel pad. All professionally done and turned round in 24 hours. . |

If its any consolation, the front seat ain't much more comfy!

I recently got a gel pad inserted into my (front) seat, can thoroughly recommend it.

do you have a non slip pillion cover?
do you have - no offence- love handles? the round the waist grab bars fro the rider for you to hold on to.. mt wife had neither- now we have she says it is soooo much comfier..but then she does have a lot of natural in built comfort in that region !! theres a guy who works from his shed isnt there who puts gel seats in!!...i have info somewhere- cud be the one jonboy said .i go see.

Hi there, thanks for the links. I'll have a look at them. Mark mentioned the love handles, though I thought they were more useful for hanging on? Definately no non-slip cover, as I have to grip with my legs when he brakes or I shunt forward into him.

I think a cheaper solution to sore bums on an SV is to wear more padding around your bum. Next long ride I am going to wear some cycling shorts under my other stuff too. They have extra padding and should help. And in addition to that I usually wear thick jeans under my armoured motorcycling trousers.
