Default Twin cans quieter than a single?

Are twins quieter than the equivalent single can?

Im very fond of my stubby scorpion, but I would prefer a quieter more bassy sound.

After looking at the renegade site, twins are quoted to be 2db quieter than the equivalent single can, does this carry for all cans? You would think twice the cans=twice the silencing, but seeing as more gas is being allowed to come out uninterupted I'm not so sure? Exhaust dynamics are very complex and I'm not about to pretend I understand them.

So does anyone know from experience?

My single rene seemed to be quieter than a friends dual rene, but it's been a while since i heard his bike.

I've twin underseat carbon rene's to put on, i expect them to be quieter than my single though

I think you have to do a rough calculation as to the volumes of the end cans to make a guestimate of the attenuation of the exhaust noise.

My standard suzuki exhaust can has an external 38cm circumference multiplied by 49cm length. Roughly 5.63litres in the end can. ? ?

I had twin hi level carbon renegades on my 650 - sounded awesome (especially with the airbox kit aswell).

I know its purely subjective but (FWIW) all the twin cans I've heard appear 'no louder' that the singles, but they do have a deeper richer note to them.

The twins I just sold were very, very loud. But logically with identical cans, twins have twice as much packing and baffle for the same amount of gas, so it makes sense that they'd be quieter.

Yea, I was interested in the system you had northy, but I was put off by the fact that you sold it to put on a quieter system, that is probably louder than mine .

Hmmmm, Rene's are nice, but I'm not so keen on their left hand link pipe design, nor really prepared to pay as much as they go for, for what is really a glorified slip-on, IMO of course.

IXIL are ok, but I don't like the design of their link pipe either, the way it splits and curls under the seat looks fugly IMO. The idea I think is good, but poorly executed. And again, it isn't a true full system.

So who makes proper twin systems for the SV? Kenz sport is the only one I know of as yet, but they are ruled out due to noise issues. GPR don't do one for the curvy as far as I know, and I don't think I can justify a journey to Germany to get one either.

Hmm, looks like summat custom, AFAIK, which means expensive. ****.

Zorstec seem reasonably priced for their custom work...

Perhaps a better pic shall suffice, they appear to be the same cans?
