Default Fitting Full Akropovic system and K&N filter to a K4

I am thinking of buying and fitting a full Akrapovic system and K&N filter for my K4.

Has anybody else done this themselves?

I was wondering how difficult the process of fitting is, (do you have to take wheels/rear suspension off etc?)

Also will I need to get the bike Dyno'd/tuned afterwards.

Or should I just leave it to the professionals to fit?

Also what are people's opinions/experiences regarding carbon/titanium cans. Are there any advantages to either?

Thanks

I thought of fitting my fulls system myslef, but the priblem was getting under the bike, and when I saw the rust and all underneath I thoiught best to leave to it to the prof. Which was a good thing as well as they had to "manufacture" a fitting for the lower fairing to make spce for the new pipe. Mine is a Blueflame btw. I am waiting fir my K&N to arrive in the next few dyas and will have it fitted when I have my servicing done. 4000 miles soon.

As for having it dyno'd/remapped there are all sorts of stories I heard, I let it run and decided I didnt need to, may have to when I get the K&N on, but only time will tell.

A full system is fairly easy to fit. You will need to remove the rear wheeel, and possibly the rear shock to get to the rear cylinder. But im sure that you can get to it with a Univeral joint and a couple of long extensions, but the wheel will still need to come off. Hall, had this system fitted to his bike with as far as im aware, no mods to lowers. I would strongly advise getting the bike set up. Dont go fitting the K&N until this time, as it will run lean.

if you are reffering to the pointy, then you can get the rear collector off without removing anything else if you have the right tools. You don't even need a stand!

You will need:

6mm allen key bit
adapter to fit the bit to a ratchet extension
extensions
universal joint
rachet

Top tip is to spray all bolts and pipe connections with wd40 everyday for a few days before attempting to remove the old system. That way it will penetrate and the old system will fall off easily.

The Akro full system requires the zorst stipped to the head, so removing the header pipe as well ( the bit the collector slides onto) However, Thor isnt wrong!

Ah, maybe my terminology is wrong. The bit that's bolted to the engine casing is what I was reffering to. Basically, the bit that's really fiddly to get off!

My other top tip is if you can't find an adapter for the allen key bit, you can cut the bent bit off the 6mm allen key you get in the standard tool kit, and slot that into a 6mm socket. I have loads of those allen keys so I didn't worry about deforming it so to speak.

You don't need to remove the rear wheel or rear shocker to fit the exhaust system.
If you have the correct tools as Thor states it should be a dodle.
Also saves money by doing it yourself.
The fitting of the K&N air filter ,for fuel injected models don't need to to get the ECU remapped as the ECU compensates for the airflow by it's self. but if you wanted to go the Whole hog, get a power commander III fitted, then get a Dyno run for the nice piece of paper with the wavey lines on it for you to frame.
