Default Finally got the front end sorted!

I have just had someone sort the front end of my 2000 SV650S.

We went down the Racetech fork springs, 20 weight fork oil, and braided brakelines to improve braking route.

What a difference in the front suspension feel. Not as much dive, no bouncy castle rebound, & no pogo feeling. I wish I had done this heaps sooner!

Sorting out the brakes has also been a good move as the standard ones were a bit mushy. Now you have feel and power, without fade. They are almost as good as the Brembo's on my Aprilia RS250, which are absolutely fantastic!

An all round much nicer bike to ride now

This is somthing I've been meaning to do for donkeys, but not got around to it yet. I love bouncy castles as much as the next person, but I don't want to ride one thangyouverymuch!

I changed the hoses for braided HEL lines a while ago, and in all honesty didn't notice much of a difference, but listening to you andothers that have fixed their front ends, it transforms the bike.

Did you do it yourself Glen, or put it in the hands of a trusty mechanic?

Hey, Someone else who has an SV AND an Aprilia RS250 ! I'm not alone !!

I have a SVS K3 and an 2002 RS250.

I did the same thing : fitted goodridge braided brakelines and Hyperpro springs (I chose 15wt oil). What an improvement ! Just add some sintered brakepads now, and the SV's braking system comes very close to the stock system of the RS.

But then again : I also put braided hoses and EBC HH brakepads on the RS250. Now THAT is what I call braking power !!

Na Trix, took it in and got it sorted as I am no mechanic! Also I figured get it done properly by someone who knows what they are doin. No sense reinenting the wheel... And yes it is well worth making the effort.

Heh Stef, good to c another fellow SVS/Aprilia RS250 owner out there. Mine is a 1996 Chesterfield Replica, which at the moment is being recalcitrant and chewing thru fork seals. Its quite cool to have a a wee Italian 2 stroke sitting in the garage as well, though riding them back to back is problematic. Going from no engine braking or torque on the RS250, to lotsa torque and engine breaking on the SVS, you need to ride them so differently.

I don't know if you think the same way, but imagine if you could put the SV engine in the RS frame, a RSV650, now wouldn't that be way cool.

R u a member of the Aprilia forum as well?

Cheers, Glen

A german guy tried it once. It doesn't fit. Even better though are the RG500 conversions. 130hp two stroke power in a 140kg bike. WOW.

For your 1996 chesterfield, try to find some post '98 forks. They're a lot better.
