Seat off???
Hi there,
Just bought my new Sv650k5 however despite the mechanic telling me how to remove the seat i can't get it off  Can anyone tell me how to get it off please? The pillion seat is easy by key but its the main seat i cant sus outMany Thanks Mark |

On a curvy SV (<=K2), you pop the trim clips holding the rear of the panels below the seat, undo the hex socket 'mushroom' head bolts, this reveals the larger hex socket bolts for the seat - one either side.

Using the 4mm allen key you'll find in the toolkit remove the panels underneath the seat, when the bolt is out the panel is held by a couple of pegs in rubber grommets, be careful as you wiggle them out, broken ones aren't unknown.
When the panels are off, you'll see two 6mm allen bolts - one either side - take them out and the seat will come free.

Is this all detailed in the manual? Look for the bit about checking the battery levels.

Of course, I wrote that post without ever having checked my battery...
 However, should it have been replaced with one that isn't sealed, you would have to lift the seat. Either way, I'm sure it's in the manual somewhere. I don't have it to hand so I can't confirm, but it's definately in the service manuals somewhere! |
