Default Abba or NWS stand for winter.

I know this has been asked sometime in the past but what is the best bike stand for the K5 SV, between the abba and the nws. I am looking for a stand that I can operate on my own, will fit in my shed and lift the bike off the ground if it needs to be stored over winter for a month or so.

I take the the NWS has metal prongs that slot inside the swing arm pivots and lift the bike without any special or extra fitting bits on the bike itself ? I am leaning towards this rather than the abba unless anyone knows reason why the abba is better ?

Also is it best to take the battery off over winter or will it muck up the ecu and bike settings ? Otherwise I'll start and run the bike every few weeks to keep it charged.

I've seen both but only used the NWS. The NWS was recommended to me by somebody who has had both.
You do need, and get, a very small adapter to make the NWS fit the K4 and K5 properly, otherwise the hole on the right hand side is too large and the spike goes in too far and the stand presses the pedal when it's lifted.

The NWS is a PoP to use on your own. You have both hands free to hold onto the bike while you just press down on the lever and up it comes.

I don't know which stand is best for you but I can say that NWS are a small firm who know about customer service.I called in to buy a hugger off them and it would'nt fit in my rucksack. So they fitted it then and there.Little things like that make me go back next time.

Having owned both, the one I'd buy again is the NWS. It doesn't require adaptors to suit every different bike and is a dab more stable, I also prefer the foot operating method as it allows you to hold the bike with both hands when putting it on and off of the stand.

Agree on NWS customer service - good people to deal with.

I've got the Abba.. but not used the NWS. But I find it just fine. I've also found there customer service to be great, sending me out a new rubber handle and extentsion for my front lift with no charge even for postage.

funnily enough, someone asked me the same question about their 999s last week, but I couldn't get the answer as forum broke.

So would you recommend NWS as a good all-rounder?
