Sorry if this finds ye going over old ground folks. I'm new to these parts! I'm investigating putting a race can on the bike and I'm looking for suggesions / recommendations / advice etc.
I've heard a Renegade on a guys SV and loved it so I went investigating them first. The yseem expensive. GOOD but expensive. So I'm wondering if ye could give me the benefit of your collective experience and point me in the right direction. Cheers! |

Blue Flame are a pretty good one, my next one was a Remus, which was pretty nice, never got the baffle out before I crashed lol
Now I have a Scorpion debaffled, its loud as feck, but a bit funny on tick over. Take your pick! |

Do you want a full system or just the can?

Not much to fault about my GForce street leagl can.
Except that the baffle fell out at sometime ![]() Nice rumble, sone nice popping on downshift and BS stamped...all for about 150/200 quid. The linkpipe that came with it was a crappy fit tbh but they did offer to replace it. I just never got round to it and filled the gaps with sealant. Loud enough to sound good and enjoy....quiet enough so the neigbours dont throw things at me when i start her up at 815am every morning. hth ![]()

I fitted a carbon fibre Scorpion, its neighbour friendly with the baffle in and bloody great with the baffle out.
Blueflame do seem to have a bad rep ( falling apart and poor customer service ) but they do look very good. End of the day its alll about personal choice - full system or slip on, race can or road legal ( with or without removal baffles )...... etc etc |

To be honest I don't even know the difference between the slip on and full system options?! What's involved in the full system?!
Are slip ons literally just that - they slip on? With the Renegade option I was going for a Twin High Level exhaust in Titanium. This involves cutting off my current exhaust and fitting the new one on. What they call 'surgery'. I take it that's closer to being a full system than a slip on, right?! Their Euro price list has that at about €885. I've heard a lot of ppl bad mouthing the blue flame ones. Basically I guess I'm wondering what the difference between what Renegade offer for €885 and what I see in my dealer showroom for €200 is?! Performance? Sound?! |

LASER duo-tech three quarter system. Supplied with choice of road or sports baffle.
Anything else is either poorly made, doesn't fit, or is too expensive, IMHO!!! |

Aftermarket exhausts for the SV are usually refered to as 'slip-ons', as you have to cut the original exhaust off, and slip the new one on - the pipe is slightly wider to accomodate this.
A full system would replace all the pipes (& exhaust) from where they come out of the cylinders. Full systems aren't really worth it unless you are going in for some serious tuning (IMHO) but doubtless there are those who know better ![]() |

Ok, a full system replaces the exhaust headers as well (the pipes from the engine case to the can). The idea is to free up gas flow and reduce weight!
I don't know about the curvys, but for the pointys there is a set of choices you have to make. Can only - you'll need to cut the old can off, and clamp on a new link pipe so the new can can attach to that. You can adapters to fit the old can back, and the cutting doesn't seem very difficult to do by all accounts. Full system - replaces the lot, so no cutting, but some grunting and fiddling, and possibly swearing when your tools are inadequate... Standard level or high level - cosmetic thing really - standard is easier to mount as you can use the pillion peg mount. Twin cans etc. Can't help you here sorry. Sounds a bit bling though! illegal/removable baffles etc. - Some cans are marked "not for road use". Some have baffles that you put in to make them legal, some race cans don't have either. Slip on / bolt on - I'm fairly sure that all cans for the SV are slip on, but I'm sure someone can confirm. It's basically how they attach to the pipe. Personally, I wanted to reduce weight, and not scratch the crap out of the original can when I threw it down the road. Hence I went for the cheapest full system I could get, so the original pipes and can would be pristine when I sold the bike. My hindle has been perfect so far. It's a bit boomy, and there's no option to get a baffle for it though. HTH ![]() |
