westminster parking question - SV650.org

outside my office in the west end there is a stretch of road about 20 feet long where there are no yellow lines or other parking restriction eg meter. i see the same car parked there every day which never seems to get a ticket, and there is more than ample room to park a bike behind the car.

the car is not in exactly the same spot every day so someone is using it and re-parking it there. it does not have a residents parking badge or anything like that.

Am i missing something obvious here, or can i park up without getting a ticket? i'm sure the council will get wise and re-instate the yellow lines soon, but i the meantime?

Provided that there are no marks on the kerb either then you can park there, simple as that. You may still get a ticket from the deeply over-zealous wardens but I believe it would have no basis in law.

that's what i thought.

my other cheeky parking space has been rumbled, got back to the bike last night to find a big notice stuck to it threatening clamping/locking it etc if i park there again. well it was on private property so fair enough i suppose. was good while it lasted.

What JB said mate....also watch out that you dont come back one day to find they've lifted you bike and painted the nice yellow lines under it.
