Default Battery on it's side??

I am putting a gsxr shock on my K3 and need to move battery! can i put it on its side permenantly?

That thread should have info on your actual question.

Which GSXR shock are you fitting? You shouldn't need to relocate the battery for the K2 onwards shocks.

Seriously, I'll be more helpful this time.

Several people, have fitted a GSXR shock to their SV's, including me. The K3 is easier to do than the K4/5 due to the simpler battery box and undertray.

You do need to cut a corner out of the battery box, but lining the bottom of the box to bring the base up too the same height as the shock in the box, should be fine. The seat will still close down over the top of it, albeit with a bit more pressure.

You can only lay gel type betteries on thier side, wich AFAIK the SV isnt

Not strictly true. Sealed lead acid can also be laid on thier side, they just dont last as long as a gel one would

I have one of thoes Yuasa two part battries and have have had the battery on its side since june/july without any problems what so ever.

But my issue is usaly on applicable to curvey svs & zx686 shocks.

I think it was Balddood i asked before about it.

nope not at all all you need is a suitable piece of 1/2 inch (or 12.7mm) polystyrene or sturdy foam. then remove about 1/2 inch off the pad that holds the battery down (bottom of seat).

how do i know (cos i have done that mod) and it works very very well indeed

final question would be torque?
Do i need a torque setting for the shock? call me paranoid but it ain't something i'd like to fall off!!

I i put 65Nm, they should be nylock nuts.
