Default Oops. Guess that wasn't a good idea.

Got home yesterday, parked bike and got the hose out to wash all the road crap off the bike. In the middle of the job and I hear a "crack". Examine the bike and find that both my head lights are now like crazy paving.

So........if you have the twin street fighter type headlights on your bike (Greg) I suggest that if you wish to give your bike a wash down when it's brass monkeys outside, turn your lights off first.

I always let the bike cool before washing it but you must have had a high pressure jet to have done that - and here's a thought, what happens in the dark in heavy driving rain?

I've not had mine long and they do run pretty damn hot compared to the original SVS twin light design.

I run twin 65w in mine which is up from the normal 50w. Never heard of anything like this before though.

They're not on my hornet anymore, swapped them for a standard Stanlet headlight, looks orginal anyway. Besides, the hornet sold tonight

Been there done that.... K3 Naked, bright summer day, decided to give bike a bit of a swill. I left the engine running so I could note if the front cylinder was getting a drowning. As soon as the water from the hose hit the headlamp the polycarb "glass" crazed over...
Managed to get a new 1 under warranty tho

Riding in rain, your headlamp glass is not subject to a sudden temperature shock as it is already being cooled by the airflow.
Well that's how I see it.

You should never put cold water on anything hot unless you are hardening and tempering. I think i was 12 when i leart that, i was in a metalwork class at school!

same vein, but MUCH more stupid: a friend of ours just cracked his car windscreen by trying to melt the ice with boiling water!
