Default Touring 2 up on sv650sK5 ??????

Hi guys, I passed my bike test back in july and got the the new bike straight after, been riding by myself up until a couple of weeks ago when i went in to my dealer to order a hugger with my wife, while we were there she decided to try on a jacket, you can guess what happened next we ended up walking out the shop with her fully kitted out, so then it was like taking a pillion out arrgh!!! but she was great could hardly tell she was on there except for a little less power.
Anyway she enjoyed it so much we were both thinking about doing a touring holiday on the bike so I've got hold of some oxford panniers and an expandable tankbag(EBAY BARGIN), should be enough for a weeks worth of clothes etc.

We are looking at perhaps going to Ireland for a week maybe with a tour company or perhaps by ourselfs, just wanted to know if anyone has done this and could recommend anybody or places to go which have facilitys for bikes like secure parking etc.

We're planning on touring Scotland next year. Was going to be two up but once Mr bought me all the gear I decided to learn myself! Yeeehaa!! Spent all the kids inheritance on the bikes.

Well...the SV two up...my god!

Rather ruins the handling

I'm still trying to get comfy on my K5 S so it would be amazing to hear what my l'il ole V-twin does over distance with double the manpower.

It doesn't ruin it, just changes it.
I've only done a few thousand miles 2-up, but I still have alot of fun.

Myself and Mrs Squid went to Ireland several times two up on a 650, it won't be a problem at all. No specific recommendations for places to stay, but it's definately worthwhile visiting the West and South West, the north Ulster coast is good too. Not forgetting the essential trips to either Bushmills or Midleton, (or some other places too - they've not escaped me ).

As Carsick says the handling will be different of course, but as you're giong to be doing a few hundred - or more - miles, it's worthwhile setting the rear spring to a suitable level, this will most likely be as far as it will go unless one, or perhaps both of you, is a particular lightweight. Don't worry about the bike - it can handle a bit of two up touring no problem.

Now that is funny

If that doesn't stiffen the suspension then nothing will

I'm sure the handling doesn't change much but it would be very front light and take getting used to. The motoGP god thing would have to wait.
