I have herd of this happening to many other people when going over wireless networks. Have to tried to see if there is an firmware update for the router?
You first should check to see that you can resolve the site host name to IP using a prog like Ping. Start > Run > CMD (press enter) > ping www.sitehostname.com You should get the hostname then an IP address (something likte this 212.23.2.1), if you get that at least your router is passing DNS querys. If you dont get anyting then there is a bit of a problem. Most home routers proxy the DNS instead of putting the direct DNS address onto your lan connection. It may be an idea to manualy enter it into the lan settings on your computer.

Ok the issue is most likley to be your MTU settings on the router/modem. What do you use to connect to the internet, what type of connection and with who do you connect with.

AOL can be set to run without the program open. You just need to setup a dial up netowrking connection to AOL using your main account username & password (needs to have 18+ access turned on).
Change the mtu on aol to 1400, default is 1500 http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;283165 If you want i can do it for you via remote assistance on MSN messenger
