Default Fowlers free collection and delivery

Fowlers have written to me as a "valued customer" and offered free
collection and delivery if I service my bike before 28 February. As
I was planning to service it anyway I gladly accepted the offer.
This will save me the nightmare of riding into and out of Bristol at
peak times. Also, the memory of leaving Fowlers in a snowstorm last
winter is still fresh.

I just pray that the van driver will be gentle with my bike. Will
let you know the outcome in due course.

I recall that the matter of home collection and delivery was
discussed in one of the threads a while ago and it transpired that
very few dealerships offer this service.

I think Fowlers have their own van and driver and deliver a lot of new bikes so it should be safe (rather than being collected by basically a car recovery service which is where some folks seem to have had concerns)

I asked for home delivery when I bought my bike in October 2003 and
it was done professionally. Still, there is always a bit of concern
when one delegates responsibility.

I remember seeing Carrick Yamaha (The Worst Dealership in Christendom TM) squeezing a brand new R1 into the back of a Vauxhall Combi... Scrape scrape scrape. Can't get in to do the ratchet straps? Ah, don't bother, it's wedged so tight it'll be fine...

I want collect and return and am prepared to pay for it. I have heard people saying they wouldn't touch Fowlers but then I don't trust any dealers.

I live halfway between Fowlers and the dealership in Chippenham called Taylors where I got the bike although there is that place up the road near Keynsham/Saltford (JHS or some name like that?).

Anyhow I don't want to stand around for ages whilst I wait for a service and there is no public transport to get me home and back so I am stuck!

Might have to pay Fowlups to collect and return come August or there is some bloke that does bike servicing at your home but I dunno how he does that if you ain't got a garage and its raining....

Also want my scottoiler fitted, just can't be bothered to do it myself...

I thought about using Taylors (it is much closer to Trowbridge) but
the absence of public transport is a major problem for me as well.
In the past Mrs Professor has offered to follow me in a car and take
me back from Chippenham, then to Chippenham again, but somehow I
thought it would be stupid.

I have been offered this by Pidcocks in Derby, I gave them some stick over the price of a basic service, but they seem to have come to their senses and prices are much more reasonable.

I might take them up on the offer, it is better than being seen riding a GS500 :P

How did they drop it off just pull up open the doors and drive off fast.

If you're at all worried Prof, take loads of pictures of your bike before it goes & get someone to witness it

Its what I did with Katie before this farce all started
