Default SKY +

I've been a Sky customer for many years and want to upgrade to Sky + however, part of the contract is that I have to have the digibox connected to the phone line permanantly for the first year (which in my house is a pain in the ####)

Questions..

Why do we need to keep it connected all the time (yes i know about the interactive services etc...but why all the time?)

What would happen if we didn't have it connected the whole time?

Do Sky actually check to see if you stay connected??

Any replies I'm sure will help....Thanks

I've just blagged Sky+ for £65, as I told 'em I was going to bin it all... They're coming to fit it in a couple of weeks

My line won't be staying in all the while either

I believe they do check that you're connected to the phone line, particularly so if you've got a multi-room subscription where the requirement is to be connected beyond the 12 months.

It is possible to connect your Sky box to your phone point using a wireless phone extension, which you should be able to get from Maplins or the like. I've not tried this myself, but if you need more information I suggest visiting Digital Spy where there are plenty experts on these matters.

Out of interest, was that a straight upgrade or an upgrade to a multi-room package?

Digital Spy Guide to Upgrading Sky+ is the best reference point for how to do this. I did it about a year ago and it really is a doddle to do.

I unplugged my sky telephone cable almost immediately after the guy installing it left, and I've never heard anything from them about it.

I would very grateful if you could pass on any info about how you did this.

I also dissconnected mine straight after it was connected. Well my 1 year old son did actually.

I have now had it over a year and never heard anything from them in that year.
