Default Fitting CCC

Ok you knew it was coming!!
Trying to fit my new can ( in the freezing cold) I've followed the instructions that came with the can and i cant get it too sit in the right position.
Now theres no mention of cutting anything off in the instructions but from what i can gather from reading threads on here is that you gotta chop summat off!!

1) Is it the Stainless steel link pipe i gotta mutilate?
2) How much have i got too chop off?

Now i did manage to get the old can off and the new one on ( oooh it sounds nice) but didnt want to start cutting things off and making a complete pigs ear of it, so i thought i'd ask you lovely people for yet some more advice

If you can help can you please spell it out too me in kiddies english and not get all technical as im afraid i dont even qualify to be a half wit
Many thanks
Cuffy

The only thing you have to cut off is the old standard can from the exhaust

IMHO you shouldnt need to cut the link pipe for that came with CCC can

When you say that you cant get the can to sit in the right position what do you mean ?

Are you sure you have cut the standard exhaust pipework in the right place ?

Basically you can not get the pipe to sit parallel to the bike cos the link pipe is not of the correct design and so you have to make do with a pipe that runs wide....CCC know about this but have never done anything to correct the problem.....

I've not cut anythnig off at the moment, all i did was too remove the old can by undoing all relevant jubilee clips, then put on the link pipe then slid the exhaust on that, is this where im going wrong??

Normally you have to hacksaw / angle grind off the standard can and pipework in order to fit a after market can of any description.

To me it sounds like that somebody has already done this to your bike to fit a can previously and thats why you have unbolted the jubliee clips to remove the standard exhaust.

To be honest I am surprised it doesnt mention cutting the exhaust in your instructions are you sure you are missing a page or something ?
I dont have a CCC exhaust on my bike, but the instructions that came with it told me where to cut the orginal exhaust its measured from the weld by the footrest.

When you say it doesnt line up which bits dont line up properly ?

The can wont line up with the original exhaust hanger on the foot rest, it either sticks out at a ludicrous angle or if i adjust it it sits nearly horizontal to the swing arm and also rests on it ( the swing arm), sorry if im being a bit non descript here but i dont have a clue about bike maitenance and not being paticuarlly mechanically minded doesnt help matters either.....hopefully oneday ill get better

I think TC3 hints at the same thing. Or alternatively ( and I did it when I fitted my blue flame exhaust ) I had the link pipe twisted round the wrong way. Or even back to front ? not sure on this though as I dont have CCC can.

If I was you I would take it all off again and then put it on loosely and then try different orientations of link pipe if you havent already done so and see if it fits a bit better.

Or maybe a call to CCC in the morning to see if they can help you might be a good idea. Have you got a digital camera, if so take some pictures of it and post them up and that'll help get your problem across

Sorry mate but your wrong!!!

You can get a CCC to line up as it should and this is how.

1) Make sure they supplied you with a P shape hanger bracket NOT the C shape bracket that they seem to supply as standard!

2) Line the can up the best you can with all the bolts undone (you will fine that the can does kick out at this point) put the P shap hanger in place and then make sure that you line it up BEHIND the pillion peg, not infront like some people do. At this point you will need to push the can towards the bike and then tighten up the hanger bracket.

3) Tighten up the two clips

4) Sit back and admire!!!

It took me a about an hour to get it all lined up right, dont rush.

I do not think that you can get the CCC end can to run perfectly parallel to the line of the bike. No matter how much manipulation before final tightening up,it does run out very slightly. I know I had one....bloody luvvly sound it was too!
