Default How to fit a can

Hi all,
Firstly let me say, I've looked through the forum and haven't been able to find the answer to my question.

I have a SV650s K5. Bought new June'05. Just been repaired after an accident, where I got cut up by a car and dropped the bike.

My question: I'm thinking of buying the Carbon Can from ebay. But how do I fit it?
Do I need to cut the current pipe?
Does the new can come with information on how I do it?
If I need to put the original can back on, how do I?

I know these are newbie questions, but I don't won't to damage my bike, just after it's had £2.5k damages repaired.

Cheers.

Do I need to cut the current pipe? - Yes you do, it will be a certain distance from the weld on the exhaust by the foot peg, this distance varies between the different can manufacturers. You can use an angle grinder or a haxsaw to do this, Angle grinder is probably the quickest and easiest, probably a good idea to cover up your swing arm with something to protect and you want to be careful you dont cut your heel plates if you use a saw

Does the new can come with information on how I do it? If I need to put the original can back on, how do I? It should come with a another bit of pipe that you fit the the orginal can and your orginal exhaust, called a "link pipe" this fits with some clamps fot MOT time. However I would think that with the baffle in you should get it through the MOT with the CCC can on

Everybody was a newbie once HTH

BTW, if you are worried about cutting the system, buying a new standard full system is actually relatively cheap. Lots of people replace the full system and sell them here, on ebay. Price can be as cheap as £35. The other alterantive is a full race system.

I spoke to a salesman at CCC. They provide the can, link pipe and another link pipe to re-connect the original along with the diagrams.

Ordered off ebay, so should be cutting away this weekend.

PS Thanks for the advice.
