Default My Wrecked SV650 - and photos from the rebuild! (no dialup)

Thanks for all the support I got after my little off. I took some pictures last night before I got started on the rebuild.

So I just got the parts to rebuild my M4 - those guys are great! Ordered on Monday arrived today (wed). Granted their company is only 2 hours away. There's also a pic of my old Icon helmet torn apart. I'm a curious person...

Nice, mine's been off the road for a while, it loked like this last weekend, now has front fairings on, waiting on indis to stick the rears on. And it needs a damn good clean, especially the exhaust, that front downpipe is a disgrace.

Hope you get it sorted soon mate.

Pah, I've seen much worse damage on bikes.
I seem to remember a certain blue k4 lying at the side of the road on a wet hill in France.

It don't look too bad in the first picture, then it gets worse, good luck with the rebuild, remember fettling the bike is as much fun as riding it.

Yeah, I thought it didn't look too bad either. Then I started paying for things.

If I can't find a used radiator I'll have to drop $450 USD on one. I've already put $770 into buing parts and the lift that it's on - the lift was only $90.

I rebuilt my M4 today. Not hard, just annoying. It's an oval can but the sleeve comes as a circle. The packing material is loose fiberglass and when it's pulled out it expands like it's spring loaded. I used some fiberglass mat from my local bike shop to repack it.

The old one.

There are six rivets on each end that needed drilled out.

The core looked like this after just 4 days of running.

This is the packing after it exploaded out.

I got some cheap high temp silicone sealer for the ends. All the instructions I found said to put a bead on the end cap, but this was easier.

I marked the center of the end cap so that it would be lined up with the seam down the back side of the can.

Riveted the ends and put the M$ tag on.

And my cat slept through it all.
