Bike stalls when engaging first gear. - SV650.org

My sv starts fine yet as soon as I select first gear it cuts out and the oil warning light comes on, yet once I start it again the oil warning light goes off.
The oil is on the full mark.
Any help would be much appreciated as I'm getting withdrawl symptoms from not being able to take it out for a spin

The oil light is a pressure switch, with the engine not running there is no pressure hence the light.
As for the cutting out it will more than likely be the side stand switch, check its not sticking and trace the wire, unplug the green connector and loop out the two connectors on the loom side and try it again

side stand sound like it still down??

check it up OR try clickin it strait into 2nd

when ya go into first does it cut out then when ya put it into N does the injectors click in and the RED light go out

Cheers Rob, it was the switch, I know now in future.

Scoobs and Jon, I know I'm female but I do know to get the side stand up before trying to engage gear. However I understand that you don't know unless you ask.

The oil pressure light always tricks people into thinking it's oil related... every bike I've ever had the light is on until ignition but you never notice it until something goes wrong, then you see it's on and get spooked! Happened to me on almost every bike!
