Default Problems with road horn

Hi peeps!
I'm new to this forum so please bare with me.
i've had my sv650s about 10 months now and i'm really please with it. it might sound sad, but i check my bike over before i use it for a blast. ie: lights brakes oil etc. However, i've noticed that the horn stops working when i've been out for a few miles. When its cold it works as it should. the other day some idiot pulled out on my and i gave it a press only to here a very faint click. There seems to be power reaching the horn, but no sound only a dull click. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem and if so, could they point me in the right direction? I know the obvious is to get a replacement horn, but i just want to make sure that its nothing else first.

if its the horn with the nut holding it all together, try loosening this first a tad. When the metal gets hot it may be the problem?

Just a suggestion?

A not so well known issue is that the horn gets too hot. The location for the stock horn is pants (behind the radiator - yeah, great idea!).

I solved this by getting two Stebel Magnums (mounted off the lower side bolt on the radiator - air cooled ) and two air horns (mounted inside the fairing, with the compressor under the pillion seat.

Somwhere in between stock & Baph's solution is definetely where you should be. Never mind it getting hot & not working it was never loud enough anyway.
Mine's replaced with a £10 single horn from halfords tucked away where the original roughly was not sure if it's stibel or fiamm, anyway it's loud enough, never fails & was plug & play replacement .

Do you hang around to give insurance details so they can get their windows fixed?
