hello I am planning on swapping the bars on my '02 naked, for a set of wider bars.
When removing the control/switch housings on the bars, for the first time, might it be normal to have to pry (or prise) them off the bar, once the screws are removed? On other bikes I've had, once the screws were loosened, the housings would open up and come right off. But I would imagine those had been "off" before, and I'm pretty sure the ones on my SV have never been off the bike before. I read the procedure in the Clymer's manual, and from what they say, the housings should open up clam-shell style and come off same as the others I've worked with. It just makes me nervous to take a screwdriver to them, to pry them apart. Was wondering if anyone else had experienced this? thanks so much! Aunty Em '02 naked Tampa FL |

I recently replaced the bars on my K3 and all the controls came off very easily. Just make sure you got all the screws out I know there are 3 on the right hand side and 2 or 3 on the left. They aren't hinged or anything, when they come apart the only thing holding them together is the wiring from the switches.
