My mother-in-law is buying garage off her neighbour - freehold and all.
She is looking for some advice about reasonable fees from a solicitor and what checks they should carry out. One quote she had was clearly printed from a program dealing with house sales, not garages as it mentioned local searches, environmental searches and stamp duty, along with £650 solicitor fees. What should she be looking for in a reasonable quote? The garage is on sale for £4500. Any help would be very much appreciated. Daphne |

Daphne..Sythree,(Ed) would be the man to ask. But I think I am safe in suggesting that certain set costs will be involved so that the transaction can be carried out safely from a legal point of view. The cost of that then simply has the addition of the Solicitors fee for carrying out the work involved.
