Default Exhaust while restricted???

Hey,

I'm thinking about getting a Laser double exhaust for me Sv650 at the Scottish bike show if i can get one at a good price, but was wondering about restriction. I'm still restricted to 33bhp so was wondering would there be much point in a new exhaust or what gains i would see? A nicer sound would be good which is kind of a reason for wanting one but what else could i expect?

Thanks
Mark

"the powercurve" will get smoother, which means less dips. a bit more power and a nicer sound offcorse

Hi Mark

I too am restricted and want to change my end can after contacting my insurance company they wanted to know the BHP increase and any performance benefits the new exhaust would give. They said if the new system increased BHP then I would be over the 33bhp for a restricted rider, so I may have to wait until next year or change insurance companies.

Check with your insurance company as they wanted me to provide lots of info about the exhaust and that it had to be road legal before they would even consider!!!!!

Good Luck
Mark

Thats a good point about insurance i had not really thought about that. Will need to give my insurance people a phone tomorrow and see what they say. Think that maybe determine if I buy a new exhaust.

Thanks

Yay! Phoned my insurance yesterday and for first time ever the phone was answered the second i phoned (no holding) she asked will it increase bhp and is it road legal. Then said as it wont be increasing bhp and is road legal it will not cost anything however in event of a claim a standard exhaust will be fitted.

Hello Mark,

Lots of the guys on here swear by the Carbon Can Company (CCC) cans which could have been had on Ebay for £110 brand spanking not so long ago -not sure if theyr'e still the same.

I got a Fuel exhaust for mine which cost the same.

Both sound good by all accounts.

i get de-restricted in June but i am going to have an exhaust ready to fit for then,

i know a new exhaust is better but you might as well stick with the old one for now, its only 2 years and the SV still sounds brillant
