Dunno about this weekend, but "V for Vendetta" is out next weekend and looks awesome. Apple has high-definition trailers on their web site:

Walk the Line (Johnny Cash bio) and Lucky Number Slevin are both very good.
Capote is also amazing but requires considerable effort to watch, not one for an idle Sunday afternoon with a hangover! |

The World's Fastest Indian just came out! Looks like a nice film about bikes.

Films like these you either love or hate - I loved it. (Partly because I'm not a fan of what is going on in Middle-east and partly because I would love to have a chat with Bush and his cronies ![]() |

I'm with you on the 'love or hate' thing about Syriana - personally I loved it, though it's definately a film you really have to 'watch'. If it was on TV I may have been tempted to start channel hopping within the frist 20 mins, but I was glad I saw it through.
Lucky Number Sleven is again very good. Very nicely directed, so much so that things they later 'explain as being clues' you almost miss at the time cos they just look like a cool way of filming a scene. That and the whole 'explaination scene' made you feel like you were being let into a secret rather than being slapped in the face for being ignorant. A nice credit to the audiences intellegence. Proposition I'm looking forward to, but V for Vendetta... hmmm... looks pretty, but as Alan Moore washed his hands of the project after looking at the first draft of the script - I'm unsure of what I'll be seeing. Sin City it certainly won't be - I'm not expacting anything anywhere near that quality or dedication to the original source material. But I'll see it and most probably be entertained somewhere along the line. (Unlike Aeon Flux - which was two hours of my life I'll never get back goddamn them.) |
